Hip

Hip problems are often associated with age, but they can happen to anybody at any stage of life. A hip injury can make mobility especially challenging, but with a combination of rest, physical therapy, and professional care, many of these conditions can be managed effectively. Some of the hip conditions we treat at the Center for Regenerative Sports & Spine Care include:

  • Gluteal tendinopathy: Gluteal tendinopathy affects the tendons of the gluteal muscles along the outside of the hip. Irritation in this area can lead to aching pain with walking, climbing stairs, standing on one leg, or lying on the affected side.
  • Hip labrum tear: The hip labrum is a ring of cartilage that helps stabilize and cushion the hip joint. A tear may cause groin pain, clicking, catching, stiffness, or discomfort during twisting, pivoting, or prolonged sitting.
  • Hip tendon tear/sprain: The hips are surrounded by tendons that help control movement, stabilize the joint, and absorb force during activity. Strain or tearing of these tissues may create pain, weakness, reduced mobility, or difficulty with walking, lifting the leg, or athletic movement.
  • Iliopsoas bursitis: Iliopsoas bursitis involves inflammation of a fluid-filled sac located near the front of the hip joint. Many individuals notice pain or tightness in the groin or hip crease that becomes more noticeable during walking, rising from a seated position, or repetitive hip flexion.
  • Osteitis pubis: Osteitis pubis is an inflammatory condition affecting the pubic symphysis, the joint located at the front of the pelvis. Repetitive stress through the hips, pelvis, and core can create groin pain, stiffness, and discomfort during running, kicking, or directional movement.
  • Sports hernia: A sports hernia (also called athletic pubalgia) involves strain or tearing of soft tissues in the lower abdomen or groin. Athletes and active individuals often experience deep groin pain that worsens with twisting, sprinting, cutting, or explosive movement.
